A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary school in Simpsonville, SC. This role involves providing effective communication access for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ensuring they can fully participate in the classroom environment during a leave coverage period.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear and accurate communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, teachers, and peers using American Sign Language (ASL).
• Interpret spoken language and classroom instruction into sign language and vice versa in real-time.
• Assist in various school activities to promote inclusion and accessibility.
• Collaborate with educational staff and specialists to support students communication needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language with certification or equivalent credentials preferred.
• Previous experience interpreting in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication needs.
• Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and schedules.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
