Full-time Day Porter and Custodian - School Location: South Nashville, near Foster Avenue and Murfreesboro Pike (close to I-440)
Department: Custodial - ServiceFM LLC
Reports To: Facility Manager and Custodial Supervisor
Employment Type: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Compensation: $16.75 per hour plus some benefits
Position Summary: ServiceFM LLC is hiring a dependable and detail-oriented
Full-Time Day Porter and Custodian to support daily custodial operations at a large middle and high school facility. The ideal candidate is proactive, takes pride in cleanliness, and is committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform general custodial duties (cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal).
- Conduct routine inspections and ensure the cleanliness of restrooms, break rooms, and entrances.
- Maintain floors and carpets as needed.
- Support event setups and breakdowns, including furniture moves.
- Help secure building entrances during shifts and report any safety or maintenance issues.
- Carry and respond to a two-way radio for service and emergency communication.
- Provide occasional support for weekend events with advance notice.
Work Schedule: - Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
- Total Hours: 40 hours per week
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required for special events
Requirements
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is required
- Consistent and reliable attendance, with strong punctuality
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed (preferred)
- Must successfully pass a background check to work in a school environment
- Physically capable of performing labor-intensive tasks, including walking, bending, stretching, lifting up to 50 pounds, pulling, and pushing
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic, professionalism, and customer service mindset
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Able to accurately track and log work hours using a smartphone or mobile device
