Position Title : Maintenance Mechanic

Department: Plant Operations

Supervised by: Director of Plant Operations

Summary of Responsibilities: Responsible for all general maintenance and repair of malfunctioning equipment. Identifies and initiates ordering of new parts and/or equipment. Assists with preventative maintenance. Works as a member of specialty teams. Maintains positive attitude and working relationships

Special qualifications:

• Formal training and experience in mechanical repair
• Desired: license, certification, training, and/or experience in HVAC/R or plumbing.

Physical Requirements:

Due to safety concerns candidates must be able to perform these pre-requisite physical tasks:

Heavy lifting up to (70) pounds, pulling and reaching above shoulder, ability to process and respond to written and verbal instruction and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Duties and responsibilities:

General maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of malfunctioning equipment, minor electrical repairs, wall repair, painting, and preventive maintenance task

• Maintains and repairs fans, pumps, motors, and other mechanical equipment.
• Assists maintenance supervisor with tasks for which the Maintenance Department is responsible.
• Repairs minor electrical problems; (i.e., replacing light switches, receptacles, changing light bulbs, etc.)
• Repairs malfunctioning equipment.
• Identifies and initiates ordering of new part and/or equipment.
• Maintains records for equipment, showing type, model number, date of installation and service.
• Maintains preventive maintenance records.
• Performs equipment inspections and insures that results of inspections are recorded properly.
• Reports all deficiencies and/or incidents to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Responds to specialty codes as required.
• Demonstrates caring and excellence in patient relations and responsiveness and excellence in service to patients.
• Communicates in a tactful manner with fellow workers and staff members, and ability to work well with others.
• Motivated towards work and hospital, inspiration for teamwork.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Nominal absences and tardiness.
• Wears clean uniform, appropriately, as required in dress code.
• Abides by the personnel policies and procedures of the Hospital.
• Acts as a role model on behalf of patients and other staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must be willing to take part in an on-call rotation, respond to certain specialty codes, conduct fire drills, work overtime (when needed), sever weather events, assist outside contractors (some are after hours), and work well with others as a team.
• Knowledge and experience in wastewater treatment, electrical, and/or carpentry will be beneficial.
