Job Description

A professional opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary school setting in Apex, NC. This contract position spans the current school year (CSY) and involves providing essential communication services to enhance accessibility and inclusion for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and staff through accurate sign language interpretation.
• Translate spoken language into sign language and vice versa in classroom, group, and one-on-one settings.
• Collaborate with educators and support personnel to promote an inclusive learning environment.
• Adapt interpreting style to meet the needs of various educational activities and age groups.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all communication.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpretation skills.
• Experience working in educational settings, preferably with elementary-aged children.
• Ability to manage multiple communication tasks while maintaining attention to context and detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Relevant certification or credentials as a sign language interpreter are preferred.
