Construction Company is seeking motivated Snr. Estimator with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in estimating large renovation projects within government and institutional facilities. Ideal candidate should have both field and estimating experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The ability to properly represent Volmar with its clients will be heavily weighted. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, including a competitive benefit. This position will be based out of Volmar’s Brooklyn, NY headquarters with travel within the 5 boroughs.

Requirements:

• Oversee, review and prepare estimates by analyzing documents, blueprints, and projects to determine which factors may influence project cost or potential setbacks, including detailed takeoffs, and estimate costs of all materials, labor, and equipment for bidding construction projects.
• Communicate to senior management, contractors, and vendors through presentations and reports recommending labor, equipment, and material cost and risk assessment for projects.
• Works with architects and engineers to develop a clear understanding of project scope during estimate preparation.
• Ability to determine the scope of work, solicit bidders and obtain accurate subcontractor & supplier pricing and bids.
• Ability to negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractor.
• Aggressively follow up with Subcontractors to ensure bids are received and that there is proper bid coverage.
• Manage multiple tasks under pressure.
• Propose and implement strategies to improve efficiency of internal procedures
• Maintain accurate and complete department files, both electronically and hard copy.
• Other duties as assigned.

· 10-15 years minimum with government experience.

· Must have a bachelors engineering degree, with master preferably.

· Must have estimated projects up to $100mm

· Must have estimated projects for the Federal, State and city agencies.

· Must understand all categories of construction trades including M,E,P.

· Must be able to write purchase order and change orders.

· Ability to negotiate pricing with subcontractors

• Experience developing RFI’s and clarifications.
• Solid Knowledge of estimating for labor, material, and equipment. Ability to price union and non-union projects.
• Experience working with the following NYC agencies DEP, DDC, and DOE.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft projects.
• Must be familiar with AutoCAD.
• Must be familiar with Primavera.
• Must have OSHA certification and SST Cards.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational and computer skills.
• Proven ability to work with all levels within the organization.
