Job Title : SOC Manager

Department: Information Security

Reports To: CISO

Employment Type: Contract-to-hire, Full-Time

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive SOC Manager to lead our Security Operations Center team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day security monitoring, incident response, and team development. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in networking and operating systems, excellent triage and incident management skills, and a passion for building high-performing teams. Strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the SOC team, ensuring 24/7 monitoring and rapid response to security incidents.
• Oversee triage, investigation, and resolution of security alerts and incidents within a 24 48 hour window.
• Develop and maintain SOC processes, playbooks, and escalation procedures.
• Communicate incident status, response plans, and resolution updates clearly and frequently to stakeholders, including the CISO.
• Evaluate current SOC capabilities and identify areas for improvement in tools, processes, and personnel.
• Mentor and develop SOC analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with IT, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure security controls are effective and incidents are properly contained.
• Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies to continuously improve SOC effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years in a SOC leadership role.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and security technologies (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, endpoint protection).
• Proven experience in incident response and threat detection.
• Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to overcommunicate plans, updates, and risks to leadership.
• Experience building, scaling, and mentoring SOC teams.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS) is a plus.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC, CEH) preferred.
